In today’s world, there are so many options to lose weight, with each one claiming miraculous results, and no single resource to help you evaluate which diet will work and which can hurt you-until now.
The Great Weight Debate is your essential, trusted resource to sift through the minefield of recommendations and misinformation when choosing the best diet for weight loss success. It explains why and how to choose a diet that takes into account your food preferences and meets the needs of your lifestyle, schedule, and food availability…a diet you can live with.
It also summarizes many popular weight-loss plans and explains the principles behind each diet, cites the research behind it, and highlights the factors that may or may not make it a healthy choice for you.
Forty-five million people in the U.S. try to lose weight every year, but many do not succeed. Why? As a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, I find it distressing to see so many people put time and effort into the wrong weight-loss regimen and end in disappointment. Some even put their health at risk. They don’t need to.
Whether you choose Paleo, low carbohydrate, intermittent fasting, Whole30, or Mediterranean, do it with realistic expectations and do it smartly. The Great Weight Debate will help you discover and understand the rules, food restrictions, and health risks of each diet. Read up on the new trends, the latest buzz, and the results of the most up-to-date research science has to offer. If you are beginning a weight loss journey or perhaps are already on your way and are looking for a new strategy to deal with a weight loss plateau or successful maintenance, you will now be able to choose wisely with The Great Weight Debate. Lose It For The Last Time is a new weight loss book written by registered dietitian Amy Shapiro. Amy has the expertise in nutrition and coaching that will help you lose the weight without going on a diet. Diets don’t give you long lasting weight loss, you go on a diet, lose weight and then go off the diet. The weight you lost then returns along with a few more extra pounds. Isn’t it time you tried a new approach to weight loss?
Lose It For The Last Time guides you to make better choices throughout your day. Small changes in what you eat and your activity level will lead you to lose weight and a healthier lifestyle. Amy’s week by week approach will guide you to a fitter you. The program has been used by employees of Brookhaven National Labs on Long Island with outstanding results.
Lets face it, the quick fix weight loss programs and diet supplements are only designed to make money for their creators. They don’t lead to long term weight loss. Amy has committed her life to helping others and now she can help you. In private practice Amy councils many of her clients using many of the same strategies contained in Lose It For The Last Time. Many of her clients already have medical conditions related to their excess weight. Fortunately for them, many disease processes can be reversed by maintaining a healthier lifestyle.
The real question people need to ask themselves is if not now…When? If you are tired of the excess weight…If you want to feel better…If you want to live longer… Then maybe Now is the time for a healthier you.

Quick Check Food Facts
Introduction and Notes by Amy Newman Shapiro RDN, CDN, CPT
I was invited by Barron’s Educational Series to author their Fourth Edition of Quick Check Food Facts. Our food choices have a profound influence on our health and well being. Decisions about what to eat are based on our food preferences, but also what is convenient, available and affordable. With the abundance of food surrounding us at home, at work and when we are out and about in the world, we make decisions about food many times a day and not just about what to eat but how much to eat too. Our food choices can also impact our family, friends and coworkers. Quick Check Food Facts is a guide to making healthy food decisions. You can purchase Quick Check Food Facts here.
