I was seriously investigating a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist out in Nassau/Suffolk County and luckily came across Amy Shapiro of Nutrisense. With weight and health issues, Amy has put me on track from day one and has kept me on track months later. Her professional thorough approach and wealth of knowledge is truly amazing.

Her consults include a study of medical history as well as analysis of your medications and or supplements, current diet, hydration, eating habits, activity, exercise and lifestyle, with decisive recommendations for change as necessary. Amy’s understanding of “cause and reaction” in the human body is really impressive along with her ability to interact with your doctor if there is a need.

In addition to the above, Amy is a student of human nature and knows how to motivate and monitor your progress enabling you to…do it on your own! A lot has to do with calories and making healthy eating choices and Amy does it all in a way that you look forward to visiting her office. A rare find indeed!

At age 63, with numerous inherited ailments, my “behavior modification” program guided by Amy Newman Shapiro began 7/26/16. Weighing in at 184 lbs (5 feet 5 inches tall), Amy guided me through regimented dietary and activity alterations that literally changed how I feel. I’m experiencing greater energy, better sleep and both pre-diabetic and hypertension medications have been halved.

At my last weight-in, 11/4/16, I tipped the scales at 166.2 lbs, a loss of 17.8 lbs. My waist size has been reduced 2 inches and I am enjoying people telling me how “great” I look.

Amy is a well trained and educated no-nonsense highly qualified woman who I truly admire. Her book Lose It For The Last Time is both informative and entertaining. A must read for those who are serious in improving their lifestyle.

I recommend you give her a call, other than pounds, what do you have to lose?

I wanted to reach out to you and re-emphasize how much your work impacted my lifestyle. I developed the habits you suggested, your program so simple, so straightforward, so easy to maintain, and it was highly effective. I lost 40 lbs. in 8 months and sustained my weight years since.

I think the psychological part of this has been crucial for me. It’s not like I didn’t know that what I was doing before was not healthy. But I could rationalize pretty much anything I did with “it’s only one meal” or “someday I’ll get back into shape” or even “this isn’t that bad for me”. Much of the advice that you’ve given seems obvious in hindsight. Yet I was violating most of it on my own. It sounds so simple to do on your own but the structure and the feedback are critical and made a real difference for my efforts.

After certain life changes, which we all experience, I wanted to find a dedicated nutritionist who could assist with sensible diet and overall well being strategies. Fortunately, I connected with Amy Shapiro whose knowledge and expertise is helping me accomplish my goals. Amy knows about smart eating, vitamins and minerals, reducing inflammation, and how healthy eating and many other related and intertwined topics are essential to our health and well-being. I appreciate that she is very respectful and presents strategies based on my needs with ongoing suggestions and much encouragement. Thanks Amy!
